Live by the sun, love by the moon.

Today has been a very lovely day, a day so full of smiles that I fear my cheeks may begin to ache a little if I do not stop soon! It did not start off this way, though, so I for one am very happy as to how it has turned out. You see, I was woken this morning by another early alarm for another driving lesson, which I am getting very bored of! My test is at the beginning of next week, so hopefully all of this driving business shall be sorted very shortly (I have my fingers crossed!). Anyway, here is a little list of reasons why my day has been lovely;

My Prince and I went off for a drive in search of an adventure, and we ended up at the cutest little farm shop and tearoom! Even though it's very close to my house we don't visit enough, but we have made a promise to visit again for milkshakes and cake before we go back to University. After browsing and drooling at all of the lovely treats for sale in the shop we settled down for lunch, hot chocolate with cream and marshmallows for me and a ham and cheese toastie for him (I pinched a bit and can confirm that it was very tasty indeed!). It is always lovely to stumble upon a cute shop or cafe when you're least expecting it.

From the farm shop we also bought a little brown package of animal food and went off to make some new friends! I was a little frightened at one particular donkey who got rather excited at the thought of a bit of food, but I fed him a handful and he let me stroke his soft head and all was well. A little ginger nut coloured Shetland pony didn't want to miss out either, so between my Prince and I we made sure that they both had full tummies by the time we left!

We came home to find that my Mum had baked another of her wonderful cakes, this time a lovely chocolate treat filled with blueberries with glitter and magical stars sprinkled upon the top! It looks wonderful and tastes as good, I have a feeling this one won't last very long at all...!
My sister has come home for the weekend to visit, all the way from London! We went down to visit only a couple of weeks ago but I'm glad that I have the chance to see her again for a while before I head back to Scotland soon (I love you, Big Sister!).

You're rarer than a can of dandelion and burdock

Sweet little dreams

If you are a dreamer, come in. If you are a dreamer, a wisher, a liar, a hoper, a prayer, a magic bean buyer. Come sit by the fire… come in! Come in!

Don't go into Mr. McGregor's garden

Yesterday while tidying my bedroom I came across a lovely gift from Christmastime hidden away on my bookshelves, the most beautiful little collection of Winnie-the-Pooh books. I read the first one before I went to bed that evening; I chuckled about his adventure with the bees, how he tried to be a little black cloud to deceive them. Sometimes it takes an endearingly clumsy bear to feel at peace with oneself.

The Postman brought me a lovely package today, a book I had been wishing for and finally decided to buy a copy for my bookshelf. It is filled with lovely little illustrations, and I'm quite partial to books written entirely about wonderful outfits and beautiful dresses! I really must stop buying books, but my love for pretty covers and well written words has always been my downfall. When I'm older I would like  to have my own little library, a dream I have always had since watching Beauty & The Beast as a child. Wish, wish, wish...

Today has been a bad day for my poor little purse! My Mum and I went into town to look for some University things that I was in need of, but I spotted these little tins and couldn't resist buying them too. A Peter Rabbit tin with English Breakfast tea, a Mrs Tiggy-Winkle tin with English Afternoon tea and a Jemima Puddle Duck tin with Earl Grey tea! My tea cup will always be full now. I also spend my pennies on some lovely floral bedding for my University bedroom, they are ever so pretty and will look lovely I'm sure.

Time for tea, I think

You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me - C.S. Lewis

A couple of photos to summarise how my Bank Holiday Monday has been spent! Yesterday I woke up early (far too early for me!) and settled in the car with sleepy eyes and a sleepy head for a long car journey to visit my family in Wales. It was very lovely to see them all, so the long journey was very much worth it! Instead of driving all the way back again we stopped at our little cottage in the Lake District for the night, which is where I woke up this morning, in a cosy little blue bedroom to the sound of rain falling heavily against my window. It always seems to rain on days when it shouldn't, on days when you would much rather go out somewhere to explore and feel the heat of the sun on your back. Our lack of rain coats meant this was not a possibility, so after a big mug of tea we came home again. The rest of the day has been spent curled up in fresh pyjamas and fresh bedsheets, giving lots of cuddles to a silly pink bear and getting lost in Narnia. Oh, I do wish I was Lucy and stumbled upon the magic wardrobe in the spare room! I would love to wrap up in big coats and scarves and mittens to go and have tea with Mr Tumnus, tea and hot crumpets by the fire. And to meet Aslan, how lovely would that be! I will never stop dreaming about my own little trip to Narnia, and I will never stop searching for a magical entrance way in old wardrobes and dusty forgotten paintings...

I Believe

My favourite quote from my favourite author, the writer of my childhood. I would like to get this tattooed one day, although I'm not sure where or even if I'd be brave enough.

A penny in my purse, And my eyes are blue

I have had the most wonderful 24 hours, but now I am at the end of it my feet are weary and my eyes are sleepy and swimming. Last night I went out for dinner with my Prince and a friend that I haven't seen in eight long months! It is strange, how now we study in different places and don't see each other as often as we are used to, how normal things feel when we do meet, like no time has passed at all. The food was lovely and I had a very lovely evening, full of giggles and storytelling and other chitter-chatter. My sweet little kitty shoes went on their very first outing out of my bedroom too!

This morning over my cup of breakfast tea I discovered that my University timetable for this coming Autumn Semester has been posted! I am only in for six hours a week, which seems very little, however with the extra work I'm sure I will be spending many hours in the Library. I think I might apply for some jobs, perhaps in the quite little tea rooms or cosy book shops. Oh, imagine how lovely it would be to be surrounded by books everyday! I would also quite like to take up a language, as I fear the French that I learnt at school will be a bit rusty by now. It would be very useful, especially if I were ever to find myself enjoying an adventure in Paris...

After a nights sleep filled with dreams of cars and driving lessons,  I woke up to find that my planned lesson for the day had been cancelled! My test is soon and I am very nervous (I am wishing that it goes well!), but I shan't think about it too much. Instead of wasting the day I dressed in a new wardrobe addition, a lovely little duck print dress and my favourite pastel pink cardigan and headed out for an afternoon of shopping with my Favourite! I spent my pennies on a new book to add to my own little library and a DVD of "Once Upon A Time", I can't wait to watch it with a glass of pink milk! I also bought some yummy iced fingers and a fish finger sandwich, my tummy was happy today.

I almost forgot, I have some lovely news to share with you! My friend has recently gotten engaged! It is all very happy and sweet and I'm looking forward to celebrating properly soon. I can't believe I have friends that are so grown up, for I don't feel very grown up at all! I am twenty this coming February but I still feel very young, hmm.

Strawberries & cream

For some reason or other I felt dizzy and unsettled when I woke up this morning on the brink of anger and could not muster any peace of mind whatsoever for several hours. So to calm myself down I decided to take a nice warm afternoon bath with some strawberry milkshake bubbles. It made pretty pink water and smelled oh so good and creamy, of yummy things and lovely treats. All snuggled up in fluffy socks and a new book between the bedsheets, I feel like a child myself now, warm and sleepy.

Your Life Is An Occasion

Today I watched my favourite film, Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium. It is whimsical and bittersweet and simply magical! I closed my eyes and crossed my fingers and toes and wished that I could work in a magic toy shop, too.
This is my favourite scene from the film (so much so that I even know the words my heart!), a beautiful intersection between the two main characters. One, who is at the end of his life has lived his passion and life to the fullest,  and the other at the beginning of her life trying to discover what to do with it.

"When King Lear dies in Act V, do you know what Shakespeare has written? He’s written “He dies.” That’s all, nothing more. No fanfare, no metaphor, no brilliant final words. The culmination of the most influential work of dramatic literature is “He dies.” It takes Shakespeare, a genius, to come up with “He dies.” And yet every time I read those two words, I find myself overwhelmed with dysphoria. And I know it’s only natural to be sad, but not because of the words “He dies.” but because of the life we saw prior to the words.
I’ve lived all five of my acts, Mahoney, and I am not asking you to be happy that I must go. I’m only asking that you turn the page, continue reading… and let the next story begin. And if anyone asks what became of me, you relate my life in all its wonder, and end it with a simple and modest “He died.”"

Fluttering and dancing in the breeze

Despite the heavy rainfall of last night the sun was shining and the sky was blue when I got out of bed and wiped the sleep out of my eyes this morning. It was the perfect day for floral Summer dresses and frilly ankle socks; the perfect day for an adventure! My Prince and I went to a lovely big park, stopping on the way to buy some bread to feed the ducks with, because it is ever so rude to visit the home of some ducks and not bring them anything! We made lots of friends, and they managed to gobble their way through a whole big loaf! There were big ducks and little ducks, black ones and grey ones and even little fluffy baby ones (they were my favourite).  After feeding the ducks we settled down on a bench and had a few little treats of our own, milkybar buttons and fruit pastilles for the sweet tooth. Milkybar is my favourite, they remind me of being little again and going to the shop with my Dad for treats at the weekend ♥
I wish more days were like today, warm and peaceful and full of happiness. They are the days that mean the most, the ones where the smile on my face refuses to budge for anything. I'm a very lucky girl.

Pussycat, Pussycat, where have you been?

I've been to London (but not to visit the Queen!). To visit my Sister, and to stay with her in her little flat on Brick Lane. This morning we were walking through the local Sunday market, the sun was shining and it felt like Summer for once. I even got to wear my lovely new deer dress! The stalls sold wonderful treasures, from pretty floral dresses to pastel coloured Carebears, old desks that are meant for writing letters to faraway friends and wonderful tasty cupcakes and strawberry coloured meringues! I could have bought a whole array of loveliness had my purse allowed it, but I only had a few coins with me. I did manage to find a few books though, and even though my bookshelf is already full of adventures and magical friends I'm looking forward to reading them.
We looked at the colourful street art and I wished that I could create something that beautiful one day. We drank strawberry juice and found a little cafe for lunch, and then it was time for us to go to the train station and catch the train home. The sun didn't come with us though, it stayed behind while grey clouds formed up ahead and big rain droplets fell, hammering the windows with its greetings. It didn't stop raining for a long time so I pulled on my pyjamas and got all cosy inside, all warm in my own bed again. Last night my slumber was interrupted by sirens and parties and the general sounds of London life, but now all I can hear is the big brown owl I saw from my Mama's window, hooting into the night.

It is good to be home.
